A Yellorium Fuel Rod provides space for fuel to be burned within a Multiblock Reactor. For each fuel rod block in the reactor's core, the Multiblock Reactor's capacity to contain fuel and waste increases by 4000 milli-buckets (4 ingots).

Placement

Fuel Rods are special blocks; they only function inside a reactor, and their positioning inside the reactor determines how efficiently they operate. Placing them anywhere but inside the reactor has no effect, and a reactor with fuel rods on its faces (top, bottom, sides) or frame will not assemble.

Further, in order for a fuel rod to be valid, it must be part of a column of fuel rods that reach from the reactor's floor to its ceiling. The block beneath the bottom fuel rod in the column must be Reactor Casing, and the block on top of the column must be a Reactor Control Rod.

In the simplest terms, the bottom block in your fuel rod column must be at the bottom extreme of your reactor, and it must be Casing. The top block in your fuel rod column must be at the top extreme of your reactor, and it must be a Control Rod. All blocks between casing and control rod must be fuel rod blocks.
