A Reactor Access Port provides a convenient interface for inserting fuel into, and removing waste from, a Multiblock Reactor.

While an Access Port is not required to assemble a reactor, it is currently impossible to add fuel or remove waste from a reactor aside from through an Access Port, so you will need to include at least one. For automation purposes, the recommended number is two.

Access Ports may only be placed on vertical faces, inside the outer frame.

Inputs & Outputs

Access Ports come in two flavors, Input and Output. Input ports are the default; they can be recognized by their big yellow inward-facing arrows. Output ports can be recognized by big blue outward-facing arrows. Access Ports can be freely toggled between these flavors by using the "DIR" button in the upper-right corner of their user interface. "DIR: IN" indicates an Input Port and "DIR: OUT" an Output Port.

Regardless of flavor, "IN" slots only accept recognized reactor fuel types, such as yellorium and blutonium. "OUT" slots cannot have any items placed in them; waste will be placed here by the Multiblock Reactor as it is generated.


Input ports expose their "IN" slots to external automation systems, such as BuildCraft pipes or Applied Energistics buses. You can use those systems to automatically refuel your reactor.

Output ports expose their "OUT" slots to external automation systems and will automatically eject any waste generated into a connected BuildCraft pipe or equivalent compatible system.

Waste will be preferentially placed in Output ports; if both Output ports and Input ports exist on a reactor, waste will only be placed in Input ports' "OUT" slots if the Output port somehow manages to fill up.

Don't attach logistic pipes! This will corrupt your savegame.
